Jhenaidah: To combat the adverse impacts of climate change and reduce casualties caused by lightning strikes, a palm seed plantation programme began today in the Kaliganj upazila of the district. As part of the programme, around 500 palm seeds are being planted in the Chalabhara area under the Shundarpur Durgapur union of the upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the plantation programme was inaugurated at 10:30 am by members of the Kaliganj BNP unit. This initiative aims to address the impact of natural disasters and climate change by increasing afforestation in the region.
Such initiatives are being undertaken to mitigate the negative impacts of climate change, highlighting the need for afforestation to face environmental challenges effectively.
