Dhaka: Police have arrested two people with firearms and ammunition in the capital’s Mirpur area. The arrestees have been identified as Md Arif Uddin, 46, and Hafizul Islam Shamim, 46.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a team of Mirpur Thana Police apprehended the duo during a raid in Section-2 under Mirpur Police Station around 11:30 pm on Thursday, as stated in a police press release issued today. The authorities seized a shotgun, a tube magazine, a bolt and bolt carrier, two body locking pins, a barrel jacket, a burnt trigger guard, and two shotgun lead cartridges from their possession.
A case has been registered against them with Mirpur Police Station. During the initial interrogation, the arrestees confessed to illegally possessing weapons and cartridges for the purpose of buying and selling in collusion with the absconding accused, Nasir, 45.
