Dhaka: The government has unveiled an extensive array of national programmes to observe the holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, marking the birth and death anniversary of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM). The occasion will be commemorated nationwide on September 6, as confirmed by the National Moon Sighting Committee.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, preparations for the event include a vibrant and comprehensive national programme, finalized during an inter-ministerial meeting chaired by Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain. The meeting was attended by key figures such as Religious Secretary AKM Aftab Hossain Pramanik and Director General of the Islamic Foundation A Salam Khan, alongside representatives from various ministries and organizations.

In honor of the occasion, special messages will be delivered by the President and the Chief Adviser. Further demonstrating the significance of the day, the national flag will be prominently displayed across all government, semi-government, autonomous institutions, private buildings, and military establishments nationwide. In Dhaka, key areas will be adorned with the national flag, colorful banners, and placards featuring ‘Kalima Tayyiba’.

The Islamic Foundation (IF) has been entrusted with organizing several religious and cultural events, such as Qiraat (recitation of the Quran), Hamd-Naat (praise of the Prophet), poetry recitations, and a Khutba writing competition in Arabic. Additionally, IF will publish special souvenirs and host seminars to commemorate the occasion. A fortnight-long Islamic Book Fair is also set to commence on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal at the southern end of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.

The media has been encouraged to broadcast special programs highlighting the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), with national newspapers publishing special supplements. Educational institutions, including universities and cultural centers, have been instructed to organize discussions, prayers, Milad Mahfil (religious gatherings), Hamd-Naat sessions, and quiz competitions focusing on the life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and themes of peace, progress, human rights, and social harmony.

For younger audiences, the Bangladesh Shishu Academy will host various events, including Hamd-Naat performances, essay competitions, and discussions. In line with the spirit of the occasion, enhanced meals will be provided at military and civilian hospitals, prisons, Shishu Sadan, old-age homes, and orphanages across the country.

The day will also be observed with due respect at Bangladesh’s embassies and missions abroad, ensuring a global commemoration of this sacred event.
