Dhaka: The Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) recently held a training session on “Submission of Income Tax Return Using e-Return System” at its premises in the city. The event was organized to enhance the knowledge and skills of its members in complying with the latest income tax regulations.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Md Shamibur Rahman FCS, the secretary in charge of ICSB, introduced the resource persons and outlined the objectives of the training in a press release. The session was chaired by M Naseemul Hye FCS, the president of ICSB, who delivered the welcome speech and expressed gratitude to the attendees for participating in this timely training.

The session was led by Wakil Ahmed, additional commissioner of Taxes and Director of the Central Intelligence Cell, National Board of Revenue (NBR), accompanied by Tomal Kumer Mozumder, a programmer from the ICT Department, NBR. They provided an in-depth overview of the e-return system, covering the legal framework and return filing obligations under the Income Tax Act, 2023, as well as the key features and functionalities of the e-Return System.

Participants received detailed guidance on the preparation of the e-return system in prescribed formats, including step-by-step instructions on online registration, e-return preparation, submission, tax payment, and issuance of tax certificates. The training also covered the classification of income, taxable income, and calculation of tax liability.

The resource persons highlighted the benefits of the e-Return platform (www.etaxnbr.gov.bd), such as simplified filing, digital archiving, online verification, and faster service delivery. Attendees were introduced to FAQs, user manuals, and support systems to facilitate their understanding.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion where participants asked about practical challenges in e-return preparation, online payment gateways, tax rebates, and record verification. The resource persons addressed these concerns and urged participants to promote digital systems among other taxpayers for greater transparency and efficiency.

The training was attended by a significant number of ICSB members and senior officials from prominent corporate houses in the country. At the end of the session, the President of ICSB awarded certificates to the participants.
