Dunion Taiyang Sheng Shoes to Invest $10.20 Million in BEPZA Economic Zone

Dhaka: Dunion Taiyang Sheng Shoes (BD) Co. Ltd., a Chinese company, has announced an investment of US$ 10.20 million in the BEPZA Economic Zone (BEPZA EZ) to establish a footwear industry. The agreement was formalized at a signing ceremony held at the BEPZA Complex in the city.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the agreement was signed by Md Ashraful Kabir, Member (Investment Promotion) on behalf of BEPZA, and Ye Yary, Chairman of Dunion Taiyang Sheng Shoes (BD) Co. Ltd. BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman was present to witness the signing.

The investment aims to produce 2.10 million pairs of various types of footwear annually, including sandals, flats, high heels, pumps, booties, boots, and sports shoes. This initiative is expected to create employment opportunities for 1,939 Bangladeshi nationals.

BEPZA Executive Chairman expressed gratitude towards Dunion Taiyang Sheng Shoes for selecting BEPZA EZ as their investment hub. He highlighted BEPZA's commitment to maintaining a secure and supportive environment for investors, urging the company to optimize land use and consider future vertical expansion in their factory designs.

Additionally, he stressed the importance of integrating environment-friendly features such as rooftop solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems within the factory.

The ceremony was attended by senior BEPZA officials, including Member (Finance) A N M Foyzul Haque, Executive Director (Investment Promotion) Md. Tanvir Hossain, Executive Director (Public Relations) A.S.M Anwar Parvez, alongside representatives from Dunion Taiyang Sheng Shoes (BD) Co. Ltd.
