Stocks Advance as Large-Cap Securities Drive Market Rally

Dhaka: Stocks today witnessed an upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges rose with higher activities of some large-cap securities. DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, advanced by 14.2 points to settle at 5,389 points compared to 5,375 points in the previous trading session.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, market analysts observed that buyers dominated the trading floor throughout the session. The invigorated market activity drew stronger investor participation, which further strengthened the market’s upward trajectory.



Meanwhile, market turnover surged to a one-year high, increasing by 56.5% to Taka 12.0 billion from Taka 7.7 billion in the previous session. On the sectoral front, Textile issues contributed the highest turnover at 16.4%, followed by Pharma at 15.0% and General Insurance at 8.8%. Most sectors displayed positive returns, with Paper (4.7%), Life Insurance (4.6%), and Textile (3.6%) showing the most positive returns. In contrast, Mutual Fund (-1.6%), Ceramic (-1.0%), and Bank (-1.8%) sectors faced the most corrections.



Out of the 397 issues traded, 180 advanced, 187 declined, and 30 remained unchanged. The port city bourse, CSE, also ended on a positive note. The Selective Categories’ Index (CSCX) and All Share Price Index (CASPI) rose by 33.5 points and 32.6 points, respectively.
