Dhaka: Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today announced that all necessary preparations are in progress for the upcoming national parliamentary election, adhering to the timeline set by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus. “We’re preparing for the election in the way it needs to be done. We will have no difficulty in preparing for the election scheduled for next February,” he stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Jahangir Alam, who also serves as the adviser for the Ministry of Agriculture, emphasized that the public, political parties, and media are all focused on the election. He assured that no conspiracy would succeed in disrupting the process. These remarks were made during his visit to the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation’s facilities, including a cold storage, a central seed testing laboratory, and a vegetable seed processing center.
In response to a question about vegetable prices, the adviser noted a slight increase due to crop damage caused by rain, while mentioning that potato prices remain low. He highlighted the importance of strengthening agricultural research to reduce the dependency on imported seed potatoes and lower production costs. The government plans to procure potatoes and set prices to ensure fair returns for farmers.
Addressing another query about the recovery of looted weapons, he stated that law enforcement agencies are actively working on this ongoing process. The adviser also commented on border security, noting improvements compared to the past and increased awareness among people living in border areas. He concluded by observing the greater freedom of expression now available, particularly on social media platforms like Facebook.
