Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) is set to publish the draft list of polling centres for the forthcoming Jatiya Sangsad elections on September 10. Ahead of the 13th National Election, a letter detailing this plan, signed by Deputy Secretary Md Mahbub Alam Shah, has been dispatched to district election officers.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the letter highlights that the ‘Polling Centre Establishment and Management Guidelines-2025’ has been approved by the EC for the upcoming national parliamentary elections. These guidelines were officially published in the supplementary issue of the Bangladesh Gazette on June 26, 2025. Article 8 (1) and (2) of the Representation of the People Order, 1972 mandates that the list of polling centres for a national parliamentary election be published in the gazette’s supplementary issue 25 days ahead for preservation and finalization.

In preparation for the 13th national election, the EC has instructed that the final list be prepared by addressing any claims or objections to the draft list, resolving them in accordance with the established guidelines. The deadline for submitting any such objections or claims is set for September 25, with resolutions expected to be completed by October 12. The final list of polling centres will then be published on October 20.

The EC has also issued instructions, in line with the polling centre guidelines, to determine the appropriate polling centres and stations for the election. The letter further instructs that all necessary actions be taken in accordance with the schedule and guidelines. It also requires the numerical data of draft and potential final polling centres, including soft copies, to be sent to the Election Support-1 branch via the respective regional election officer within the specified time frame.
