Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today handed over a joint declaration on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) to the senior secretaries. The event took place at Shapla Hall at the Chief Adviser’s Office (CAO) in Tejgaon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the declaration was previously signed by senior secretaries and secretaries from 35 ministries. The initiative aims to address the growing concerns surrounding NCDs and reinforce efforts for their prevention and control across various sectors.
During the event, Prof Yunus delivered a speech outlining the importance of collaborative efforts in tackling NCDs. Health and Family Welfare Adviser Nurjahan Begum, Special Assistant on the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Professor Dr. Md Sayedur Rahman, and Health Services Division Secretary Md Saidur Rahman also addressed the gathering, highlighting the need for coordinated strategies.
The event was attended by advisers, the cabinet secretary, the chief adviser’s principal secretary, senior secretaries, secretaries, senior government officials, and representatives from development partners, demonstrating a collective commitment to combating non-communicable diseases in the nation.
