Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus today extended his greetings to the Hindu community on the occasion of Janmashtami, celebrating the birth of Lord Sri Krishna. In a message issued on the eve of the festival, Dr Yunus highlighted Janmashtami as a significant religious observance for the Hindu community.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr Yunus emphasized Lord Sri Krishna’s enduring message of justice, compassion, and peace. He noted that Lord Krishna appeared to protect the forces of good against evil and that his philosophy, centered on devotion and societal peace, continues to inspire not only followers of Sanatan Dharma but people of all faiths.
Dr Yunus remarked on the unique hallmark of communal harmony in Bangladesh’s culture, where for centuries, people have practiced their respective religions while maintaining harmony. He mentioned that the interim government, established through a historic mass uprising, is dedicated to preserving this harmony.
He urged vigilance against any attempts to disrupt societal order, fraternity, and communal amity. Dr Yunus expressed confidence that the ideals of Lord Sri Krishna will further strengthen mutual goodwill and brotherhood among communities. He called for collective efforts to build a Bangladesh free from discrimination and enriched with communal harmony.
The Chief Adviser concluded by wishing success for the Janmashtami festival and praying for the happiness and prosperity of all citizens.
