Dhaka: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two main suspects in the murder of Rahat Hossain Rabbi, which took place at a shisha lounge in the Banani area of the capital on August 14. The suspects, identified as Munna, 27, and Maksudur Rahman Hamza, 26, were captured in separate raids conducted by a joint team of RAB-1 and RAB-11 in the Barura area of Cumilla district on Friday, as stated in a RAB press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the murder weapon, a knife used in the killing, was seized from Rajia Sultana Road in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur area. The victim’s father, Robiul Awal, has filed a murder case in connection with the incident.
The incident occurred in the early hours of August 14 when the suspects, Munna and Hamza, allegedly stabbed Rahat following an altercation. Rahat was subsequently rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital, where he was declared dead by the attending doctors. The murder is believed to have been the result of a long-standing rivalry over dominance in the Banani lounge.
