Dhaka: Liberation War Affairs Adviser Faruk E Azam, Bir Protik, announced that 78 July fighters injured in the mass uprising have been sent to Thailand, Singapore, Russia, and Turkey for advanced medical treatment. A significant sum of Taka 97,50,28,102 has been allocated for their treatment, with the primary focus being on providing adequate medical services.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Faruk addressed the families of the martyrs and injured fighters at a reception organized by the National Garments Workers Federation at the Jatiya Press Club. He emphasized the government's comprehensive program for both the injured and martyrs of the 2024 mass uprising. The program includes a monthly allowance for the injured, categorized into three levels: 'A' category fighters receiving Taka 20,000, 'B' category Taka 15,000, and 'C' category Taka 10,000. Additionally, they have been granted lifelong free medical care at all government hospitals and provided with health cards to facilitate this service.
The health ministry has taken full responsibility for their treatment, ensuring access to specialized hospitals. Faruk also highlighted the government's major rehabilitation scheme, which aims to provide training and employment opportunities for the injured fighters, enabling them to lead comfortable lives.
The event was presided over by Garment Workers Federation President Aminul Haque Amin and attended by notable figures including Head of the Labour Reforms Commission Syed Sultan Uddin Ahmed, National Garment Workers Federation Adviser Advocate Abed Raja, Sramik Karmochari Oikya Parishad Coordinator Abdul Quader Howlader, and Industrial Bangladesh Council General Secretary Bablu Akhtar. During the event, financial assistance cheques were distributed to the families of the martyred garment workers and the injured.
