Kushtia: Sajid Abdullah, a student of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia, died of asphyxia due to suffocation, as confirmed by a forensic report. The report, jointly signed by Nazrul Islam, the chief of the Bangladesh Police CID Chemical Laboratory in Mohakhali, and Khulna divisional examiner Jony Kumar Ghosh, affirmed the absence of toxic substances in Sajid's body. It concluded that the cause of death was asphyxia resulting from suffocation, which was antemortem and homicidal in nature. The death occurred approximately 30 hours prior to the postmortem examination.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Kushtia Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman stated that the viscera report's findings indicate a homicide. The committee tasked with investigating Sajid's mysterious death is anticipated to submit its report by today, as noted by the committee's convener, Prof. Emtaz Hossain.
Earlier, on July 17, Sajid, a student from the Al-Quran and Islamic Studies department under the 2021-22 session, was found dead in the pond of Shah Azizur Rahman Hall. Following this incident, students of the university have been actively staging demonstrations, demanding a fair and transparent investigation into his death.
