Dhaka: The Chinese Embassy in Dhaka has donated a new batch of COVID-19 testing kits to Bangladesh, continuing its support for the country's health sector. The donation aims to alleviate the pressure on local healthcare facilities engaged in COVID-19 testing and treatment.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the donation was made following a request from Bangladesh's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. A brief handover ceremony took place in the capital on Tuesday, attended by Chinese Embassy Counselor Li Shaopeng and Md. Halimur Rashid, Line Director of the Communicable Disease Control (CDC).
During the event, Counselor Li Shaopeng emphasized that the emergency support symbolizes the robust cooperation between China and Bangladesh in the health sector. He reiterated China's commitment to working with Bangladesh to promote the vision of a 'Global Community of Health for All', ensuring that collaborative efforts benefit the populations of both countries.
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chinese Embassy has consistently supported Bangladesh with various forms of assistance, including medical equipment, vaccines, and technical cooperation.
