Dhaka: Pakistan Home Minister and Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi today met Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan at his office at Secretariat here. At the beginning of the meeting, Asif welcomed the Pakistani Home Minister, said a press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Asif highlighted that approximately 63 percent of Bangladesh's population falls between the ages of 18 and 35. To cater to this demographic, the Department of Youth Development is conducting various training programs aimed at providing employment opportunities. The adviser also mentioned the implementation of artificial intelligence-based training modules to nurture youth entrepreneurship.
The meeting underscored potential collaboration in sports between Bangladesh and Pakistan, with a focus on cricket, hockey, and kabaddi. Asif noted that Pakistan's advancements in solar power generation could serve as a model for Bangladesh, especially as the Local Government Department is developing a rooftop solar policy for its 5,600 institutions. He emphasized the mutual benefits of exchanging expertise in this area.
Additionally, the adviser informed Naqvi of an upcoming delegation visit to Pakistan to study the single database system for birth and death registration. This visit is being organized at the invitation of Pakistan.
Mohsin Raza Naqvi conveyed condolences on behalf of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the lives lost in the recent training jet crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara. He also extended an invitation to the Sports Adviser to visit Pakistan, expressing interest in advancing youth development programs and sports collaboration. Naqvi announced plans to sign a memorandum of understanding between the two countries to promote hockey, kabaddi, and cricket.
The meeting was attended by Youth and Sports Secretary Md Mahbub-ul-Alam, Local Government Division Secretary Md Rezaul Maksud Jahedi, Pakistan Embassy Dhaka Charg© d'affaires Muhammad Wasif, Counsilor Kamran Dhanggal, and senior ministry officials.
