Dhaka: Home Adviser Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) today asserted that all individuals involved in the brutal murder of Sohag, a scrap metal trader, in the capital's Mitford area will face justice. "We will bring all the culprits to book involved in the killing," he stated after visiting the Dhaka Police Lines, Range Reserve Force, and Traffic and Driving School in the mail barrack of Old Dhaka.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Home Adviser expressed deep sorrow over the incident, revealing that five suspects have already been apprehended. Among them, two were captured by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) while in possession of firearms, and an additional suspect was arrested by police the previous night.
The Home Adviser emphasized the ongoing efforts of the Detective Branch (DB) teams to ensure all involved parties are held accountable. He urged the public to maintain patience and refrain from taking the law into their own hands. "If any incident occurs, inform the law enforcement agencies of the matter and they will take action accordingly," he advised.
Jahangir highlighted the swift response by law enforcement following the incident, citing the quick arrests related to the Sohag murder and a similar incident in Chandpur. He also mentioned his visit to the mail barrack in Old Dhaka, where a new training program will be introduced to ensure fair conduct in the upcoming election.
Addressing inquiries about the election preparations, he stated, "We're preparing by December for the election. But, the election commission will announce the election date." The murder of Lal Chand, also known as Sohag, occurred on July 9 when he was brutally attacked near Sir Salimullah Medical College and Hospital.
