Barishal: Health officials today announced that 391 new cases of dengue have been reported, resulting in at least one death in the past 24 hours. Most of the patients sought treatment in health facilities located in the southwestern Barishal region.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed that out of the 391 cases, 128 patients were hospitalized in the Barishal division, which has been severely affected by the mosquito-borne disease. The statement highlighted the distribution of the remaining cases: 41 were hospitalized in the Chattogram division, 39 in the Dhaka division excluding the capital, 63 in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and 20 in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas. Additional cases included 30 in the Khulna division, 11 in the Mymensingh division, 57 in the Rajshahi division, and two in the Rangpur division.
Since the onset of the dengue outbreak, Bangladesh has recorded 55 deaths and a total of 14,406 infections. The DGHS also reported that 359 patients have been discharged from various hospitals across the country following their recovery.
The previous year, dengue claimed 575 lives and affected 101,214 people in Bangladesh.
