Dhaka: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General AKM Shahidur Rahman emphasized that the primary goal of the force is to earn the trust of the public through dedicated efforts. "RAB will be the real friend of the people and a symbol of trust. Gaining public trust is the main task of it," he stated during an interaction with journalists at the RAB Media Centre in the capital's Kawran Bazar.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the RAB chief made these remarks while briefing the media about the force's recent achievements, such as solving a brutal murder case in Chattogram and apprehending suspects involved in the killing of scrap metal trader Sohag in Dhaka's Mitford area.
He expressed his hope that RAB will continue to perform their duties with utmost sincerity, focusing on maintaining law and order, protecting human rights, ensuring the security of every citizen, and identifying and prosecuting criminals. "RAB alongside other law enforcement agencies have been working tirelessly to maintain the country's law and order," he commented.
Highlighting their recent successes, he mentioned the arrests made by RAB in high-profile cases, including the apprehension of the main accused in a gruesome murder case in Chittagong and the arrest of individuals involved in the killing of the scrap trader Sohag. The RAB has successfully brought about 20 criminals to justice for inciting mob violence.
In addition, the RAB has recently arrested seven individuals in cases related to the abuse of women and children. "We were able to arrest the main accused Shah Paran and six other accused in the case of molestation and torture of a woman in Cumilla on July 3 last," he noted.
