Dhaka: Education Adviser Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar highlighted the lifelong advocacy for human welfare and humanity by Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam during a discussion at the Rabindra-Nazrul Joyanti event held at the Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Academy auditorium.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Abrar emphasized that every human experiences a range of emotions, including happiness, sadness, joy, and love, alongside life’s struggles and pleasures. He noted that literature, poetry, and music play a crucial role in alleviating these aspects of human life.
Dr. Abrar expressed concern over the current global and domestic climate, describing it as marked by indifference and passivity towards human responsibilities. He pointed out the decline in human sympathy and compassion, stating that people often oppress others for personal gain.
He further elaborated on the significance of Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam, noting that their works inspire individuals to embrace life even in challenging times. The adviser urged the audience to engage with the works of these poets to draw inspiration from their humanitarian messages.
The event featured prominent figures such as essayist and researcher Dr. Morshed Shafiul Hasan, Bangla Academy Director General Professor Mohammad Azam, and essayist and researcher Kudrat-e-Huda, with BCS Administration Academy Rector Dr. Md Omar Faruk presiding over the session.
