Khulna: Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University (KU) Professor Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim emphasized the need for higher education to extend beyond academic curricula to include practical experience and relevant knowledge. "Alumni can play a crucial role in making university curricula more contemporary, skill-based, and career-oriented by sharing their real-world insights," he stated during the launch of the Alumni Association of the Human Resource Management (HRM) Discipline at Khulna University, an event held at the Liaquat Ali Auditorium of the university.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted the importance of establishing a platform for mutual communication, cooperation, and experience-sharing among KU alumni, who are currently serving in various prominent institutions both domestically and internationally. The university administration is conducting a tracer study to develop an information-rich database of all alumni, with the aim of enhancing communication and contributing to the university's strategic planning.
The event also featured addresses by Professor Dr. Firoz Ahmed, former Dean of the School of Management and Business Administration at Khulna University and current Treasurer of Rabindra University; Professor Dr. Md. Nur Alam, current Dean of the same school; and Prosenjit Tarafdar, Head of the HRM Discipline. Assistant Professors Syed Azharul Islam and Tasnia Jannat of the HRM Discipline also addressed the gathering as special guests.
Md. Mehedi Hasan Masud, Convener of the newly formed Alumni Association committee, presided over the event, while Member Secretary Ehsanul Haque presented a PowerPoint outlining the association's vision and roadmap. The opening remarks were delivered by Joint Member Secretary Tarikul Islam Taj. Faculty members, convening committee members, and alumni from various batches were also present on the occasion.
