Dhaka: Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has announced plans for a special programme commencing on July 1 to commemorate the July Uprising. He stated that while the programme will begin at the start of July, the main events will take place from July 14 to August 5. The aim of the programme is to reignite the spirit of unity across Bangladesh associated with the July Uprising.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Farooki disclosed these plans during a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital. The briefing was intended to communicate the outcomes of the council of advisers’ meeting earlier today. Farooki noted that detailed information regarding the July Uprising-related programme will be shared by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing next Monday.
Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, who also spoke at the briefing, reported that nine advisers participated in the meeting. He mentioned that two other significant decisions were made, including the formation of a committee to address the autonomy of Bangladesh Betar and Television. This committee will be led by Education Adviser CR Abrar.
Additionally, a committee has been established for the July Proclamation, a demand from students and the public. Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud will head this committee, tasked with preparing the July Proclamation before August 5. Alam highlighted that the committee will collaborate with students and political parties to expedite the proclamation process.
Furthermore, the council of advisers decided to designate August 5 as Student-People Uprising Day, which will be observed as a holiday. Members of the Chief Adviser’s press wing attended the briefing.
