Eid-ul-Azha Celebrated with Enthusiasm in Chattogram

Chattogram: The holy Eid-ul-Azha, the biggest religious festival of Muslims, was celebrated on Saturday with religious solemnity in the port city and throughout the district.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Muslim devotees gathered for Eid prayers in mosques across the port city and the district. A total of 266 Eid congregations, including at Jamiatul Falah Mosque, were organized by the Chattogram Central Eid Jamaat Committee (CCEJC) and Chattogram City Corporation (CCC).



A large number of devotees participated in the prayers, seeking divine blessings for the country’s peace, prosperity, and stability, and relief from the Corona pandemic. Chattogram metropolitan and district police confirmed that Eid-ul-Azha Jamaats were held peacefully in the city and district.



Among the largest gatherings, one Eid congregation took place at Andarkilla Shahi Jame Mosque at 7 a.m., organized by CCEJC, while two others were held at Jamiatul Falah Mosque at 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. under CCC’s auspices. Other major congregations occurred at Laldhighi Maidan, Chawkbazar Wali Khan Mosque, and several other locations between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m.



City Mayor Dr. Shahdat Hossain, former Minister Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin, and other elites and politicians in Chattogram participated in the Eid prayers at Jamiatul Falah Mosque. Residents of fourteen upazilas in the district also celebrated the Eid festival with enthusiasm, culminating in animal sacrifices after the prayers.
