Champions Mohammedan Finish BPL with Emphatic Win

Gazipur: Malian forward Souleymane Diabate slammed a brilliant hat-trick as league champions Mohammedan Sporting Club finished their Bangladesh Premier League tourney with a massive 6-1 victory over Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club at Shaheed Barkat Stadium in Gazipur.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, apart from Diabate’s hat-trick with five goals in the match, forward Sourav Dewan supported him with a lone goal for Mohammedan in the one-sided affair. Forward Rafayel Tudu netted a consolation goal for Fakirerpool.



From the very outset, Mohammedan looked sharp, hungry, and in complete control in the match, dominating possession and dictating the tempo. They pegged Fakirerpool deep into their own half with a series of attacks. Their pressing game was relentless, their passing crisp, and their positioning perfect.



The early breakthrough came in the 6th minute as Diabate opened an account for Mohammedan from a spot kick. He doubled the lead by scoring the second goal in the 23rd minute, and the prolific Malian striker completed his hat-trick in the 40th minute of the match.



Back with a healthy 3-0 lead, Mohammedan resumed the second half in a more organized way and added three more goals. Diabate scored the fourth goal in the 70th minute, and Sourav Dewan made the scoreline 5-0 in the 80th minute.



Rafayel Tudu reduced the margin by scoring a lone goal for Fakirerpool in the 86th minute, while Diabate sealed the victory by scoring his fifth and sixth goals for the team in the 90th minute of the match.



The day’s win made the traditional black and white Motijheel outfit Mohammedan finish at the top of the table with 42 points from 18 matches, while Fakirerpool finished in the eighth position with 19 points, playing the same number of matches.
