Dhaka: Forward Sheikh Morsalin’s remarkable hat-trick propelled Bashundhara Kings to a thrilling 5-3 victory over Dhaka Wanderers Club, securing them the third position in the Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League football at Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Morsalin’s three-goal feat was complemented by contributions from forwards Rakib Hossain and Md Rabby Hossen Rahul, who each added a goal for the Kings. The team led 3-1 by halftime. For Dhaka Wanderers, midfielders Md Sadik Ahmed and Shahidul Islam Sumon, along with forward Md Manzurul Karim, each netted a goal.
The match began with Sadik scoring for Wanderers in the 7th minute. Rakib leveled the score for Kings in the 41st minute, and Morsalin quickly followed with goals in the 42nd and 45+4th minutes, giving Kings a strong halftime lead. Shahidul narrowed the gap for Wanderers with a goal in the 49th minute, but Morsalin completed his hat-trick in the 66th minute, and Rabby added another in the 81st minute. Manzurul scored the final goal of the match for Wanderers in the 90+4th minute.
With this victory, Bashundhara Kings accumulated 32 points from 18 matches. Dhaka Wanderers, who were already relegated, finished ninth, having played the same number of matches. The league’s final match between Chittagong Abahani and Fortis Football Club is scheduled for Thursday at the district stadium in Mymensingh.
