Dhaka: Home Adviser Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) assured today that efforts will be made to ensure no innocent individuals are harassed in connection with the July uprising cases. “We will take measures as no innocent is harassed. Only the miscreants will be exposed to justice,” he stated, addressing concerns about potential harassment of innocent people.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Home Adviser made these comments after attending a meeting on law and order at the Bangladesh Secretariat, in anticipation of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festivities. He was responding to questions regarding the treatment of innocent individuals related to the uprising cases.
In relation to the recent arrest of actress Nusrat Faria at the airport, the Home Adviser clarified that there is an ongoing investigation concerning a case against her. He also addressed queries regarding the wife of Bangladesh Jatio Party Chairman Andaleeve Rahman Parho, confirming that she was not arrested as there are no charges against her.
Discussing travel restrictions for individuals with pending cases, the Home Adviser indicated that policies are in place to restrict such individuals from traveling abroad, ensuring compliance with legal protocols.
