Rangamati: Ferry services on the Rangamati-Chandraghona-Raikhali-Bandarban route in Kaptai upazila have been suspended from 6 am today to facilitate dredging work in the Karnaphuli River.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Sabuj Chakma, the Executive Engineer of the Rangamati Roads and Highways Department, confirmed that the ferry services will be on hold for a period of five days, starting from 6 am today until 5 am next Sunday. He explained that the suspension is necessary due to the accumulation of silt in the Karnaphuli River, which affects the ferry crossing route and causes inconvenience to the public.

An initiative has been taken to remove the silt from the ferry crossing way to address this issue. While ferry traffic is temporarily closed, the Rangamati Roads and Highways Department has advised travelers to use the Rangunia-Bangalhalia (Sukhbilash) road as an alternative route during this period.
