Dinajpur: Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today emphasized that legal measures will be rigorously upheld to ensure that no individual, regardless of their influence or status, can evade consequences for criminal activities. ‘Regardless of how powerful the criminals may be, the law will be enforced against them if they commit a crime,’ he stated, underscoring the government’s commitment to applying the law equally to all individuals.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the adviser made this affirmation while speaking to the media after a special law and order meeting at the Dinajpur District Commissioner’s office in the afternoon. He reiterated that legal action is being pursued under the country’s existing laws, with no room for exemptions, regardless of the offender’s identity.

Jahangir Alam noted that the nation’s law and order situation has significantly improved compared to the past, with security forces actively working to safeguard people’s lives and property. Addressing journalists’ inquiries, he clarified that there is no room for brokers at police stations and instructed law enforcers to take action against individuals engaging in such activities.

He further stated that any victim has the right to file a case with the police station, but arrests will only be made if the investigation confirms the crime, ensuring that no innocent person is wrongfully detained or harassed. He urged the police to handle such matters with utmost seriousness.

Jahangir Alam also mentioned that the border guards have been stationed in the country’s frontier areas under stringent security measures, with the government maintaining strict vigilance to prevent any criminal activities. He warned against spreading propaganda on this matter.
