Patgram: The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has returned two Bangladeshi nationals, including an SSC candidate, after eight hours of detention at the Patgram border of the district. The return took place through the Burimari Land Port at around 2 am following a meeting with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). Prior to their release, the BGB conducted medical tests on both individuals.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BGB sources revealed that the BSF personnel had detained Rimon, the son of Mustak Hossain from Patgram upazila, and his maternal uncle, Sajedul Islam, who was visiting from Bogura Sadar. The detention occurred at sub-pillar No. 825 in the Gatiarpar border area at around 6 pm on Friday. Rimon, one of the detained individuals, is reportedly a candidate for this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination.

The detention happened while Rimon and Sajedul were recording videos of a tea garden in Indian territory from the Bangladesh side, as stated by the BGB sources. Upon receiving this information, BGB officials promptly took action to secure their release by convening a flag meeting. Following the meeting, the two Bangladeshi nationals were safely brought back to Bangladesh after spending eight hours in detention.

The local community expressed gratitude towards the BGB members for their swift response in facilitating the return of the Bangladeshi nationals. Patgram’s Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Md Zillur Rahman, noted that the BSF officials responded promptly once they were contacted by BGB personnel.
