Khulna: Education Adviser Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar expressed optimism that the demands of the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) students will be addressed shortly. He assured that ongoing processes are in place to resolve the issues and emphasized that any individuals involved in criminal activities within the university will face legal action.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the adviser made these remarks during a media briefing on the overall situation at KUET following a meeting with the students who are currently on a hunger strike. He reiterated that no one is above the law and urged the protesting students to end their hunger strike, promising that actions would be taken in adherence to legal procedures.
Professor Abrar also encouraged the students to return to their classes, pledging the withdrawal of expulsion orders and lawsuits filed against them. He highlighted that the relevant authorities have been asked to take necessary steps to address the ongoing issues on campus. A committee has been established to examine the students’ demands, and its recommendations will be implemented promptly upon report submission.
The meeting was attended by Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Firoz Sarkar, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam, and the protesting students.
