Dhaka: Police have already taken all-encompassing security measures in the capital city and elsewhere across the country as the people can celebrate the Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bangla New Year-1432, in a festive and peaceful manner tomorrow.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of media at the Police Headquarters Enamul Haque Sagor stated that law enforcement agencies have implemented security measures with equal importance across various locations. However, special focus has been given to major cities such as Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet, and Barishal.
Sagor mentioned that there is no specific security threat concerning the Pahela Baishakh celebrations, but the police are vigilant. He confirmed that adequate numbers of law enforcement personnel, both in uniform and plainclothes, have been deployed throughout Dhaka and other regions to ensure a peaceful celebration.
He further added that necessary instructions have been dispatched to every unit of Bangladesh police to bolster security. Intelligence surveillance has been intensified, especially in larger cities, to monitor any potential disturbances.
The 'Ananda Shovajatra', the focal point of the Pahela Baishakh celebration, has been prioritized in the security planning. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued two separate guidelines for traffic management and organizing the Ananda Shovajatra in an orderly manner.
