Narail: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two individuals in connection with the murder of Akbar Hossain, a 75-year-old freedom fighter from Lohagara Upazila in Narail district. The suspects, identified as Zakaria Mollah, 55, and Saddam Hossain, 32, were apprehended in Jashore town and are residents of West Lahuria village in Lohagara.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Akbar Hossain was brutally attacked by the arrested suspects and their associates near his home on March 31 around 3 pm. After the attack, locals rescued Hossain and rushed him to the Mohammadpur Upazila Health Complex in Magura, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Police sources have revealed that there was a longstanding family feud between the victim and the attackers, as they were neighbors. Following the incident, Akbar Hossain's wife filed a murder case with Lohagara Thana, prompting further investigation.
RAB, in collaboration with local police, conducted an extensive investigation, which led to the arrest of the two suspects. Squadron Leader Md Rasel, the commanding officer of RAB-6's Jashore Company, stated that the suspects have been handed over to Lohagara Police for further proceedings. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the crime.
