Dhaka: The government has heightened security measures in the diplomatic zones of Gulshan and Baridhara in the city against the backdrop of protests demanding an end to the genocide in Gaza and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Armed Police Battalion (APBN), Special Branch (SB), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), police, and intelligence forces have been put on high alert in these areas. The increased security presence is particularly focused around the US embassy in Gulshan to ensure foolproof security and prevent any potential incidents.

"We have taken all-out security arrangements in the diplomatic zones of Gulshan and Baridhara areas centering the protest. All the security forces except the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have been deployed to ensure security there. No untoward incident has taken place, thanks to the security arrangement," Ali Ahmed Masud, Assistant Commissioner (AC) of the Gulshan Division, told BSS this afternoon.

Additionally, members of the security forces have stopped traffic on the road adjacent to the US Embassy from Notun Bazar to Gulshan. On-duty police personnel have stated that restrictions have also been imposed on the movement of people in the area.
