Khulna: Government, semi-government, and private offices-along with courts, banks, financial, and educational institutions-resumed operations on Sunday following a nine-day holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr. Officials and employees returning to work were seen exchanging Eid greetings with their colleagues.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a festive mood is still prevailing among the officials and employees in offices across the city. From today, the regular office hours are from 9 am to 5 pm, while banking transactions will be conducted from 10 am to 4 pm. The number of vehicles and people on the roads is similar to that on regular working days.

During a visit this morning, this reporter saw officials and employees exchanging greetings at Khulna City Corporation (KCC), Sonali Bank Corporate Branch, and Uttara Bank Picture Palace Branch. A bank official of Uttara Bank mentioned that people had thronged the branch to withdraw money after the Eid vacation. Many people have already returned to Dhaka after enjoying the Eid vacation with their loved ones.

Meanwhile, educational institutions, including Khulna University (KU), reopened today. Classes and administration will resume from 9 am to 5 pm every day, except on holidays, according to a press release last night issued by Professor Dr. S M Mahbubur Rahman, Acting Registrar of KU.

Talking to BSS, Md Ahsan Habib, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP), stated that the law and order situation is normal, and no unwanted incidents have been reported during the Eid holidays as KMP reinforced a three-tier security system in the city. Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religious festivals for the Muslim community, was celebrated across the country last Monday. The Eid holidays began on March 28 and ended on April 5.
