Naogaon: Police arrested Abu Khaled Bulu, President of Bodolgachhi upazila Awami League (AL), from his residence at Bhandarpur in connection with a case under the explosive substance act last night.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Saiful Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Investigation of the police station, stated that the arrested person was an accused in a case filed on November 5 under the explosive substance act. On that day, two cocktails were detonated in front of Goborchapa Hat Government Primary School in the upazila, causing panic in the area. The police later recovered six unexploded cocktails from the site.
Following the explosion, local leaders and activists of the BNP organized a procession, chanting slogans against the Awami League. They alleged that Awami League leaders were responsible for the explosions, having arrived at the scene in two microbuses.
Subsequently, on November 5, a local BNP leader, Belal Hossain Sawkhin, filed a case with Bodogachhi Thana, accusing over 100 leaders and workers of the AL. The complaint specifically named 40 AL leaders and workers, including the upazila unit president.
The arrested AL leader, Abu Khaled Bulu, has been sent to the court for further legal proceedings.
