Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus’s upcoming visit to China is set to concentrate on attracting foreign investments into Bangladesh, as stated by Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam today. This focus emerges as a central theme of the visit, which aims to engage with Chinese investors, manufacturers, energy companies, and both private and state-run enterprises in China.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Alam emphasized during a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy that the visit is a part of Prof Yunus’s broader economic diplomacy efforts, presenting Bangladesh as a potential manufacturing hub to the international community. The interim government is actively adopting policy measures to establish Bangladesh as a manufacturing center, including providing streamlined services to facilitate foreign investment in the country’s private sector.

The government’s primary objective is to stimulate economic growth and job creation in Bangladesh, as highlighted by Alam. As part of the visit itinerary, Prof Yunus is scheduled to address the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) conference on March 27, where he will discuss Asia’s evolving role on the global stage. Additionally, he will engage in significant meetings with CEOs of major global and Chinese companies alongside the forum.

Alam noted that Prof Yunus is also slated to hold a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on March 28. The visit will further include meetings with potential investors in Beijing, aiming to solidify economic ties and investment opportunities.
