Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today affirmed the interim government’s dedication to enhancing the country’s development and ensuring that the full benefits of independence reach the people. “We are working to establish good governance and justice to ensure people-orientated and sustainable development, and ensure transparency and accountability through necessary reforms in all spheres of the state,” he stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Professor Yunus conveyed his message on the eve of the Great Independence and National Day, which will be observed tomorrow. He extended heartfelt greetings and congratulations to all Bangladeshis, both within the country and abroad, emphasizing the significance of this day as a culmination of the long struggle for dignity and rights.
He acknowledged the beginning of the bloody War of Independence on this day, which ultimately led to Bangladesh’s emergence as an independent nation. He paid homage to the valiant martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country’s freedom, recognizing their supreme sacrifices.
The Chief Adviser highlighted that for the past 16 years, the benefits of freedom had eluded the people due to dictatorship, which oppressed citizens and stripped them of their basic rights. He credited the successful uprising of students, workers, and the masses for liberating the country from tyranny.
Professor Yunus called upon the nation to renew its commitment to development, peace, and prosperity, in alignment with the spirit of the Liberation War, on this auspicious occasion of Independence Day and National Day.
