Jhenaidah: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained 24 Bangladeshis, including women and children, for their alleged attempts to enter India through the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah. BGB members conducted operations on Border Outposts (BOPs) in Cumillapara, Baghadanga, Medinipur, and Srinathpur from Wednesday midnight to this afternoon and arrested them, according to a press release issued by Saiful Islam, Assistant Director of Maheshpur 58 BGB Battalion.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrestees include five women and four children. In addition to the detentions, BGB recovered Indian liquor, viagra, and VoIP gateway sets during the operations. The detainees were identified as Joy Mandal from Kathalia village in Khulna, Shariful Islam and Jahangir Hossain from Baikari Sardarpara in Satkhira, Hasan Howlader from Barabadura village in Morelganj, Salauddin from Baghadanga Paschimpara in Maheshpur, among others.
The women and children were sent to Jashore Justice and Care Centre, while the other detainees were handed over to the Maheshpur police station.
