Cox’s Bazar: July Shaheed Smriti Foundation chief executive officer Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdha today stated that students and citizens are prepared to protest once more if any negligence is detected in the trial process concerning the July-August killings. “If there is any trace of negligence in the trial process of the July-August killings, students and people will once again take to the streets, the way Martyrs Abu Sayeed and Mir Mugdho did in the past,” Snigdha emphasized.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Snigdha, who is also the brother of Martyr Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mugdho, made these remarks during a ceremony titled ‘Bangladesh Stands with the Injured Warriors’. The event, aimed at distributing financial support to the victims of the July-August uprising, was organized by the July Shaheed Smrity Foundation with assistance from the Cox’s Bazar District Administration at the Cox’s Bazar Cultural Centre auditorium.

During the event, the family of Nurul Amin, a student leader from Eidgaon’s Purba Gojalia area who became a martyr during the uprising, received Taka 5 lakh. Additionally, 47 injured individuals from the district were provided Taka 1 lakh each as financial assistance. Snigdha highlighted the sacrifices made by the martyrs and the injured during the uprising, underscoring that their contributions could never be fully repaid. “The courage to sacrifice life for the country is not something everyone possesses. The July Shaheed Smriti Foundation will always stand beside them,” he asserted.

Mohammad Salahuddin, the district’s Deputy Commissioner, noted that the families of the martyrs and the injured in Cox’s Bazar are currently facing severe hardship. Consequently, the administration has extended its support as much as possible, including delivering Ramadan presents to them.

The program began with a one-minute silence to honor and remember the martyrs and the injured. According to foundation officials, four individuals were killed and 82 people were injured during last year’s protests in Cox’s Bazar. The verification process for 62 injured individuals has been completed. Previously, the foundation provided Tk5 lakh as financial assistance to each of the families of three other martyrs in the district.
