Dhaka: Dhaka Premier League (DPL), the country’s most coveted tournament, is all set to kick off tomorrow (Monday) with three matches across the city. Three venues-Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) and BKSP-3 and 4-will be used as the venues for the league in which a total of 12 clubs from Dhaka will take part.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, defending champions Abahani Limited will take on Agrani Bank Cricket Club at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Club to start the league. Mohammedan Sporting Club, which is believed to have formed a formidable team, will face Gulshan Cricket Club at BKSP-3 ground, while in the day’s other match, Prime Bank Cricket Club will compete against Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club at BKSP-4 ground.
The trophy was unveiled on Saturday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, where captains of all 12 teams were present. Mohammedan captain Tamim Iqbal highlighted the significance of DPL, calling it the spine of Bangladesh cricket and essential for almost all cricketers in the country. Tamim expressed hope for a successful league in all aspects, including umpiring and overall cricket performance.
A total of 27 matches will be broadcast live on T-sports. Additionally, 83 matches will be streamed live on T-sports digital platforms.
