4 Traders Fined TK 1.62 Lakh for Hoarding and Overpricing Edible Oil

Chattogram: The Directorate of National Consumers’ Right Protection (DNCRP) today fined four traders TK 1.62 lakh in the port city for hoarding edible oil in warehouses, selling it at high prices. The directorate imposed the fines during market monitoring activities in the city.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, DNCRP conducted a raid on Sunday at Pahartali market in the city, where four traders were fined for violating consumer rights. This action was taken as part of their efforts to enforce the Consumers’ Rights Protection Act, 2009.



DNCRP Deputy Director Faiz Ullah emphasized the importance of compliance, advising the traders against further violations of consumer rights. Assistant Directors Anisur Rahman, Rana Debnath, and Mahmuda Akhter were also present during the raid. Faiz Ullah remarked that DNCRP’s monitoring activities will persist to safeguard public interest.
