ACC Holds Public Hearing in Pabna to Combat Corruption and Harassment

Pabna: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) organized a public hearing in Pabna to address issues of corruption and harassment, engaging locals affected by these challenges. The event, held at the Shilpakala Academy auditorium, aimed to foster a corruption-free society through the active participation of victims of bribery and misconduct in various sectors.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the hearing was organized under the theme ‘Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity’. The event sought to tackle corruption in government, semi-government, autonomous institutions, banks, and financial institutions. Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen, ACC Chairman, emphasized that corruption is the root cause of many societal issues. He stressed the importance of justice in reducing discrimination and highlighted the need for humane and tolerant service providers.



Dr. Momen remarked on the country’s standing in the global corruption index, stating the need for improvement. He urged the audience to bring the right people to the forefront to alleviate suffering. Addressing concerns about political influences in corruption cases, Dr. Momen clarified that the ACC focuses solely on addressing corruption.



The hearing was chaired by Pabna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mofizul Islam, with ACC Commissioner (Investigation) Brigadier General (Retd) Hafiz Ahsan Farid speaking as a special guest. Other notable attendees included ACC Director General (Prevention) Md Akhter Hossain, Rajshahi Director Md Kamrul Ahsan, Superintendent of Police Md Mortoza Ali Khan, and various district officials and public figures.



The primary goal of the hearing was to eradicate corruption by improving access to government services and promoting honesty, integrity, accountability, and values among officials.
