No Barriers to Objective Journalism, Says BJWT Managing Director

GAZIPUR: Managing Director of Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust, M. Abdullah, announced that the era of obstacles to objective journalism has ended, urging journalists to embrace their responsibilities in the new landscape. Speaking at the conclusion of a three-day training session on news reporting, Abdullah emphasized the removal of pressures that once hindered truthful reporting, marking a significant change since August 5.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, M. Abdullah highlighted that journalists now have the freedom to write truthfully without facing pressure from the administration or other entities. Over the past 16 years, he noted, free journalism faced significant challenges, but these have been alleviated following recent changes. Abdullah called on journalists to contribute to the development of a new Bangladesh, underscoring the importance of their role in society.



The training session, organized by the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) and held at the Gazipur Zilla Parishad auditorium, was attended by 35 journalists from various print and electronic media outlets. Under the leadership of PIB Director General Faruk Wasif, the event addressed the challenges of investigative journalism and provided insights into fact-checking and mobile journalism.



The program was moderated by PIB trainer Mohammad Shah Alam Saikat and featured speeches from notable figures such as Gazipur Journalists Union President Delwar Hossain, General Secretary Muhammad Hedayet Ullah, and Gazipur Press Club President Mostafizur Rahman Titu, among others. The training aimed to equip journalists with the skills necessary to navigate the complexities of modern journalism.
