DHAKA: University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh member Professor Dr. Masuma Habib emphasized the importance of cultivating a robust research culture in higher educational institutions to propel the country forward. She made these remarks at an academic seminar held at the UGC, where she participated as the chief guest, according to a press release.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the seminar was organized to critically evaluate the PhD qualifications of 12 educators from various government colleges. The event aimed to assess the compatibility of the degrees obtained by these educators with the subjects they teach. Dr. Masuma Habib highlighted the positive impacts that research conducted at colleges and universities has on building the nation.
She urged educational institutions to actively encourage researchers and leverage their expertise at both individual and institutional levels. The seminar was also attended by notable figures such as Vice Chancellor of Islamic Arabic University Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shamsul Alam and Director General of Bangla Academy Prof. Dr. Mohammad Azam, alongside several professors from different faculties of Dhaka University.
