CHAPAINAWABGANJ: An opinion-exchange meeting focusing on “Building Discrimination-free Bangladesh and the Role of Mass Media in Resisting Rumour” was convened in Chapainawabganj. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Deputy Commissioner of Chapainawabganj, Md. Abdus Samad, attended the meeting as the chief guest, while Md. Touhiduzzaman, Deputy Chief Information Officer of the Rajshahi Regional Office, presided over the session. Organized by the Rajshahi Regional Information Office, the meeting took place in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner.
The session commenced with a PowerPoint presentation by the Deputy Chief Information Officer, outlining the mechanisms of rumor propagation, detection, and prevention. The presentation aimed to equip attendees with the necessary tools to combat misinformation effectively.
In his address, the chief guest emphasized the need for a robust relationship between media workers and government officials to prevent the dissemination of false information. He stressed that spreading rumors can disrupt communal harmony and should be avoided at all costs.
Additional insights were provided by Chapainawabganj District Information Officer Rup Kumar Barmon, who spoke on the critical role of information dissemination in maintaining social cohesion. The meeting was moderated by Senior Information Officer of the Rajshahi Regional Office, Md. Azizur Rahman Shah, who facilitated discussions on the challenges and strategies in combating misinformation.
