Abu Dhabi: Shakib Al Hasan's impressive all-round performance was not enough to save the Bangla Tigers from a 31-run defeat against Azman Bolts in the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament. The match, which marked the fifth outing for the Bangla Tigers in the tournament, saw Shakib excel both with the ball and bat, yet his efforts fell short in securing a victory for his team. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Shakib, who is captaining the Bangla Tigers, delivered a disciplined bowling performance, claiming one wicket while conceding less than 10 runs per over. His contribution with the bat was equally notable as he remained unbeaten on 29 from 19 balls. Despite his efforts, the Bangla Tigers were unable to chase down the formidable target set by Azman Bolts. Azman Bolts, having opted to bat first, unleashed a batting onslaught, amassing a colossal 133-1 in their allotted 10 overs. England's Alex Hales was instrumental in the Bolts' innings, scoring a blistering 75 not out off just 30 balls, studded with six fou rs and six sixes. His opening partner, Shevon Daniel, contributed 27 from 18 balls, while New Zealand's James Neesham added an unbeaten 23 from 13 balls. The Bangla Tigers' bowlers struggled to contain the Azman Bolts' aggressive batting line-up. However, Shakib stood out with his economical bowling figures of 1-17 in two overs. Rashid Khan and the other bowlers failed to stem the flow of runs, proving costly for their side. In the chase, apart from Shakib, only Pakistan's Iftikhar Ahmed, who scored a quick-fire 21 off eight balls, and opener Hazratullah Zazai, who added 17, managed to provide some resistance. The Bangla Tigers ultimately fell short, posting 102-6 in 10 overs. This defeat has pushed the Bangla Tigers down to the eighth position in the 10-team tournament standings, with only two wins from their five matches so far.
