Dhaka: The 48th death anniversary of Mozlum Jananeta Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani was observed in the capital and other parts of the country in a befitting manner. Different political and socio-cultural organizations arranged various programs on the occasion at Santosh in Tangail and Dhaka.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Vice Chancellor of Maulana Bhashani Science and Technology University, Professor Dr. Anwarul Azim Akhand, along with the Gano Adhikar Parishad, placed floral wreaths at Bhashani’s grave at Santosh this morning. A rally, discussion, and doa mahfil were also held there to commemorate the late leader. A seven-day Mela was inaugurated at the shrine of Maulana Bhashani, attracting a large number of his disciples who gathered to pay their respects.
Maulana Bhashani, the founding president of the Muslim Awami League, passed away on November 17, 1976, at the then PG Hospital in the capital and was buried in Tangail. The National Awami Party (NAP-Bhashani) organized a discussion
marking his 48th death anniversary at the city’s Bangladesh Shishu Kalyan Parishad on Topkhana Road.
Speakers at the event highlighted Bhashani’s lifelong dedication to fighting for the rights of the oppressed. They emphasized that Bhashani was committed to improving the lives of the toiling masses and never succumbed to external pressures, as he had a deep love for the people.
The chairman of the Jatiya Swadhinata Party (JSP), Moazzam Hossain Khan Majlis, along with Prof. Nurun Nabi, labor leader Abul Hossain, and Jatiya Somajtantrik Dal leader Humayun Kabir, were among those who spoke on the occasion. Swapan Kumar Saha, the party’s president, chaired the event, while Secretary General Hamida Khatoon Shali conducted the meeting. Khan Majlis remarked on the nation’s need for a political leader like Bhashani, especially in these critical times, urging followers to unite and fight for the rights of the exploited and deprived.

ng Maulana Bhashani’s death anniversary at their office on Topkhana Road. Speakers at this event reiterated Bhashani’s struggle for the rights of the poor and farmers. The meeting was presided over by Jatiya Krishak Samity President Aminul Islam Golap, with general secretary of Khet Mojoor Union Zakir Hossain Razu conducting it. Jatiya Krishak Samity general secretary Mahmudul Hasan Manik and farmer leader Noor Ahmed Bakul were among those who participated in the discussion.
