National Wrestling Competition Kicks Off at National Handball Stadium.

Dhaka: The 36th National Senior Men’s and 10th National Women’s Wrestling competition commenced today at the National Handball Stadium in the city, as announced in a press release. The event, which spans two days, saw the first and second rounds for both men’s and women’s sections take place on its inaugural day.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the competition features a total of 300 male and female wrestlers hailing from various districts across the country. These athletes are competing in twenty different weight categories, showcasing the depth of talent present in the nation’s wrestling community.

Before the competition began, federation officials held a special prayer and munajat in memory of the late national wrestler, Bangladesh national team’s coach, and referee Jahangir Alam, who passed away on October 14. This tribute underscored the wrestling community’s respect and admiration for Alam’s contributions to the sport.

The competition is set to conclude tomorrow with a prize distribution ce
remony, marking the end of this significant event in the national wrestling calendar.
