Rajshahi: Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) has organized a daylong training workshop for its teachers and section heads aimed at enhancing their competence to prevent anomalies in accreditation. Initiated by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the training, titled “Preparation for Evaluation Team Visit of Accreditation,” was conducted at the university’s administrative building.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor SM Abdur Razzaque inaugurated the event as the chief guest, with IQAC Director Prof Imdadul Haque chairing the session. The workshop saw participation from distinguished faculty members, including Deans Prof Kamruzzaman, Prof Muhammad Rokonuzzaman, Prof Rabiul Islam, and Prof Abdul Kader Zilani. IQAC Additional Director Prof Shamim Anwar extended a warm welcome to all the participants.
During his address, VC Prof Abdur Razzaque highlighted the development of a national qualifications framework by the University Grants Commi
ssion (UGC) for higher studies under the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC). This framework is expected to provide guidance to students planning to pursue higher education, offering insights into the learning process and skills required before admission or studies across different sectors. He emphasized that this initiative would help maintain international standards in Bangladesh’s education system.
The framework encompasses all sectors, including skills, technical, vocational, and academic areas, and is designed based on a credit point system and qualification levels. The country’s higher education system is structured into three main tiers: bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees. VC Prof Razzaque urged the participating teachers to effectively apply the knowledge gained from the workshop in their respective fields. He stressed the collective responsibility of advancing RUET’s academic and administrative activities to produce knowledgeable human resources in technical and engineering domains.
The w
orkshop was attended by 286 teachers and section heads from various departments, marking a significant effort in bolstering the university’s commitment to quality education and accreditation standards.
