Dhaka: A United Kingdom (UK) Emergency Medical Team (EMT), funded by the British government, has arrived in Bangladesh to provide specialised medical treatment to the students injured during the July-August 2024 uprising. This deployment is taking place in response to a formal request for assistance from the Bangladesh Interim Government, said a press release issued by the British High Commission here.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the team consists of an orthopaedic surgeon, a physiotherapist, a rehabilitation expert, and a clinical coordinator. They will be working at the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) from November 5 to 18.
The clinical experts of this team have vast experience in treating patients in conflict-affected areas worldwide, said the high commission. Their presence in Bangladesh aims to provide crucial support and enhance the recovery process for the students affected by the turmoil earlier this year.
