Mithapukur: Increasing women's participation in nation-building activities is essential for their empowerment in the process of building a youth-driven prosperous, discrimination-free, and accountable Bangladesh. The opinion came today at a women's rally organized by the District Information Office (DIO) at Ruposhi Munshipara village in Khoragachh union of Mithapukur upazila in the district. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was attended by Dr. Md Mofakkharul Iqbal, Director of the DIO, as the chief guest, with its Assistant Director Md Alamgir Kabir presiding over the event. Md Rafiul Islam, Assistant Teacher of Nurpur Girls' High School in Mithapukur upazila, addressed the rally as a special guest. The rally, moderated by Assistant Information Officer of the DIO Tania Taznin Memi, saw the participation of 140 female students, working women, housewives, and female entrepreneurs. In his welcome speech, Alamgir Kabir emphasized the nation's commitment to building an equity-based society fre e from discrimination and exploitation, ensuring equal rights for all citizens. He highlighted the importance of both men and women coming forward equally to achieve this goal. Dr. Md Mofakkharul Iqbal, the chief guest, underscored the significance of gender equality and the improvement of women's quality of life as crucial components in creating a discrimination-free country. He stated that society requires both men and women to function effectively, stressing the necessity of proper education and employment for women's self-reliance and overall development. He further emphasized the role of family as the first educational institution for children, with mothers serving as the first teachers. He pointed out the importance of family education in shaping a bright future for children and imparting moral education. Addressing the issue of child marriage, Dr. Iqbal described it as a curse and a significant obstacle to societal progress. He urged everyone to actively prevent child marriage and report any inciden ts to the authorities immediately.
